Fine Art Print Series // REMIX
I’m was very excited to pick up these canvases created from some of my band shots yesterday, which are now taking over my house! I’m hoping to have this collection on display and available from a Manchester gallery in the next few weeks… More details soon.
Band Photography // Manchester // Little Volcanoes – 2
Thursday tips over into Friday at the Hacienda with a lot of dancing, a lot of pizza, and a bit too much white wine.
Later, after sleep, a lot of tea, more sleep and cakes, on the phone with Phil from Little Volcanoes – “what is it you guys are after from this shoot?” – “don’t worry Mike, we’re all creative people, we’ll work it out”.
And of course, we’re also in Manchester, where we can roam freely around the station and back streets of Piccadilly without drawing any more than a wry smile as dusk fulls across the city on a busy bank holiday Friday. Exploring a little corner that I thought I knew so well, we are looking for angles, looking for light, somewhere between concentration and openness, close focus and wide angle, we are being creative. A pure pleasure that banishes the last bits of fuzziness from the night before.
Finishing up in Chinatown, we pass on beers with the band and opt instead for more tea, chinese this time, and an expertly dispatched, velvety sea bass in the Little Yang Sing.
A Good Friday.
Band Photography // Manchester // Little Volcanoes
Ok, this is a pretty quiet time of year for Wedding Photography! So by way of a change here are some band shots from a session a last night for Little Volcanoes, rocking hard in Strangeways. Listen out for them coming your way soon…
The Unthanks
Aaaaaah. The Unthanks were magical again at Hebden Bridge last night. They’d camped in the Trades Club for the weekend , run a singing workshop on Saturday afternoon, played Saturday night, held a family show on Sunday afternoon and then done another full and breathtaking show for us all on Sunday night: close harmonies, lush arrangements from the band, a bit of clog dancing and In the Bleak Midwinter.
It makes you proud of civilisation that it can produce young musicians like this.
(After a few hectic days of photography I made a conscious decision to leave my camera at home and just enjoy this one without thinking about apertures and shutter speeds…)
RammyFest Band Night
Here are some shots from the Ramsbottom Online RammyFest night at the Grants Arms last night. Great sets from some of the best new local bands.
You can see the full set and order prints here.
